About Bulkley Valley Ministries

A welcoming place for faith and community.

Who we are

The Bulkley Valley stretches over a large area with many communities, which include Moricetown, Smithers, Telkwa, Quick, Houston, Topley, Granisle and Burnslake.

Bulkley Valley ministries provides support to those in our communities of the bulkley valley to create a better tomorrow. With having such a large area to supply to, our ministry unit has two centres (Smithers & Houston). We are blessed to have two fully functioning foodbanks and two great thrift stores. Additionally, we provide a soup kitchen twice a week at our Smithers location and a friend & fellowship coffee time at our Houston location.

Our history

The Salvation Army first started serving the people of Bulkley Valley in 1985 when we first opened Camp Mountainview, located just outside of the town of Houston.

In the early 1990’s, The Salvation Army opened their community Service office and Thrift Store in Houston, BC to help better serve the communities of Bulkley Valley.

Shortly after opening in Houston, we opened a location in Smithers, BC to further expand the services we offer to the people of the Valley.
